Apiary now has a print stylesheet for the generated Docs.
It uses numbering + table of contents and displays the examples with language you have selected in the language-dropdown.
The preferred way of sharing the documentation with 3rd-parties is through People settings (add viewers). However printing now looks great.

@Nic: The situation is we have designs ready, waiting to be implemented, might get to pipeline once we drop support for old version of documentation. — Month or two. I'm sorry I can't provide you with some better news.
We are planning to look into it soon.
We're revisiting whole comments/support/discussion notification story at this very moment and release is tied to overhauled documentation at the end of July.
Kris, you can find a switch for private mode (per API) in ‘Settings’. If you want to invite your team mates to collaborate on the API, we can switch on this—soon to be paid—feature for you.
In case you have enterprise-level requirements, please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with details about your company. We're looking for enterprise partners for perfecting hosted apiary.io.
Thank you for your suggestion, we're aware of the lazy job we did here, although right now, when we're working our way from beta and settings and options are in—kind of a wild state, where ‘On’ is sometimes ‘red’ and sometimes ‘green’ or a ‘grey‘ thing. We plan to consolidate application controls and put them more into context rather then keep them in one centralised hub (to help less experienced users).
